Working after hours

This in one the events that takes place in 2009 about giving power to MACC (Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission) to detain suspect after office hours. I at first, without reading more, believes that the agency should be given this power to detain after office hours…because crimes happen also after office hours.

Today, I realized, I’m too shallow in knowledge. Found this comment in chedet blog. I took this one from many others as it simply summarized all the points.

………………CONSTITUTIONAL FREEDOM

The constitution entrusts the police force with security, law enforcement, power of detention. MACC does not exist when constitution written and is not envisaged to hold such powers.

The High Court judge is right, the constitution should not allow too many bodies power over civil liberties. Similarly the constitution does not grant prosecution powers to other bodies except Attorney General.

The judge is looking at civil liberty and freedom. Detention without trial or charge (24hrs interrogation) is violation of basic freedoms and should not be granted freely.

……………..ROLE OF MACC

MACC is a post crime investigation agency, not pre crime prevention body. With investigative not security or preventive powers (from its actions so far) there is no need to give this agency 24hrs detention authority without charge or trial.

Power of detention should be given to only security and safety agencies, not agencies investigating political parties, councilors purchase of stationery etc.

…………….CIVIL RIGHTS ABUSE

It will lead to civil rights abuse which such powers over civil liberties is prone. Already the police (one agency granted such powers) sometimes act out of control.

Since the crime already committed and no security risk involved why need 24hr powers? Anyway if MACC require such power they can refer police.

……………..REDUCING CRIME

Giving MACC 24 hrs detention powers will not reduce crime, as it only acts after the crime has taken place. But dissolving Umno is guaranteed to reduce crime by 900 cases (Tun’s quote on Umno corruption reports)

I do not need to summarize again. The above quote says it all.

Investigation can be done outside working hours but detention of suspect is done during office hours. Call police if requires detention after office hours.

Syahmie dapat 9A

What a great news. Anak sedara aku dapat 9A tuu… PMR. Aku tak nampak sangat dia study sebab dia tinggal kat asrama. Dia nampak macam rilek and secretive about result exam dia. But I’m glad that she got 9A.

Frankly, I had something in mind for the present. Boleh laa beli. Tu pun duit daripada my freelance job. My current job currently has no update. I’m living in the dark right now, but in 2010, aku ada azam baru..: Think for my future. Ahh… but that’s in another post.

Aku ada 1 more niece aku hutang a gift for getting 9A, Amni. 1 of my nephew, Arham, also got 5A untuk UPSR this year, but I’ve gave a pre-gift. Efah pulak, aku janji ngan dia nak bagi present for her birthday but perancangan tak ikut plan. Have to postpone.

Nway, I am ‘able’ currently, so aku find la something for her. Lagipun, dia selalu je buat aku feels like home. Along jgn jeles. Time along dah lepas. Masa SPM ritu, c.mat tak de duit lagi. Nanti C.mat bagi kereta CQ. Hehe..

Started development of an iPhone app

kwbear5_125.jpgYesterday was officially the day I’ve started developing my Elance customer iPhone app. I was hoping to give my best through out this period.

Though it was yesterday, I’ve already slowly started developing it after receiving the description and content for the app.

Rubik Cube

Been playing with rubik’s cube. I don’t realize that it is quite addictive. It is… when you know the rules, the how to solve it.

However, I managed to get all correct except two corner cube. Lastly, I resorted to CubeCheater, an iPhone app that show you moves until you solve the cube puzzle.

I will try again and hopefully, I’ll success

Google Chrome for Mac

mac-os-x-developer-release.jpegFinally it’s here…

But not quite here yet because currently, the Google Chrome for Mac is for developer preview only. You can download but the thing is not stable here and there.

I’ve downloaded and I like it very much. During this 2 hours using it, I found no problem what-so-ever yet. The clean interface and larger viewing area are the thing that pleased me when browsing site using Google Chrome.

Duit oh duit…

Ini post aku yang pertama dalam bahasa. Duit oh duit…

At least, aku berharap, we (programmers) diberi something untuk terus hidup (dengan kompeni). Sekarang ni, pekerja tak bahagia. Macamana nak tiru MindValley.

Sometimes, kita orang kene pergi ke rumah using our own transport. Yeah…Itu kira cost sendiri. Mana mau cari…Makan pun gitu-gitu jer.

Today, I’ve said something sebab kawan programmer aku ni pun tahap sengkek giler. Was hoping that aku buleh beritahu dia pasal hal ni. Aku on the other hand, was thinking untuk start cari kerja lain… yang lebih happy and not pressure with this little thing. Dia patut tanya khabar pekerja dia dan nolong semampu.

Centering text vertically and horizontally

Vertical-Align.pngYet again, I faced this difficulty when centering text vertically. I’ve done this before but I’ve forgotten. Was hoping to find new way but landed on the same page I was referring before.

By Gavin Kistner, Understanding vertical-align, or “How (Not) To Vertically Center Content”

This is the code I used:
div.outer {height:100%;text-align:center;}
div.inner {position:absolute;top:40%;left:40%;height:36px;width:200px;}
<div class="outer">
<div class="inner">
<span class="title">Title</span>
<small>Caption</small>
</div>
</div>

I modified the code to fit my need. I wanted to center the content with the width of the viewing/browser width. I think, finding the correct percentage need trials. It depend on the width of the container. You could calculate though, mathematically.
