I’ve been asked to do some research to see what is Documentum is. From my initial search, I found that Documentum is an engine for Enterprise Content Management. Documentum is owned by a company EMC² that provide high end hardware for enterprise data storage system.
The emc.com home page is your gateway to the vast array of EMC products and services to help you create, manage, store, and protect all your organization’s information.

It seems like large company are using them to reliably store organization’s information as they are well known for such services. To my astonishment, the company also owned VMWare (as of my reading and was told that) and many more products. In Malaysia, the company seems to have been giving services to vast majority of companies and I am not going to reveal the names as I am not quite sure of my memory right now and at this moment, and I don’t want to give false information on that.
Documentum support .NET framework, meaning that I can developed my application on ASP and Visual Basic. It also vastly support JAVA though I am not very into it but I don’t see (during this initial searches) of it supporting Objective-C programming in Mac. Mostly what I’ve seen until now is mostly project examples done in Visual Basic and Google Web Toolkit (GWT)

Here I found some information on what Documentum is http://d4d2.com/?p=29. His website has most of information for Documentum and mainly targeted to non-geek reader like the name suggested “Documentum for Dummies”. I’m not quite finished exploring the website thus I’m not in the position to summarize the content of it.
Oh.. before I forgot, here’s the link (http://developer.emc.com/developer/challenge/D6_contest.htm) for the previous contest for developers on Documentum 6. Here is where I found out some of the projects that were done with VB.NET and GWT. You may see there other applications that are used to the developed the front-end for Documentum 6 such as application from Adobe and Window Mobile. Anyhow, I am still not in the situation, again, to explain on their system because I’m only have covered two of them.
Till now, the information I have was not enough yet for me to conclude whether I will be developing the next application together with the support from Documentum or not. Thankfully, I have Saifuddin to help me during the Googling in this matter.
